Simsbury Sports Digest for May 18
Rain plays havoc with the schedule, but not with Simsbury lax which continues to roll.
Two days of rain has forced many postponements and some cancellations of high school sports contests in Simsbury and the surrounding towns.
But the lacrosse teams kept doing what they have been for most of the season... winning.
The girls knocked off Hall High School on Monday 11-8. Sophomore sensation Tess Mackay tickled the twine with 7 goals, while fellow sophomore Kayla Deitz had 3 and senior Ariana Arciero scored the other goal and had 8 ground balls, which are key for possessions. The Trojans (8-4) have now won 2 in a row and are ranked 8th out of 25 Class L teams in the state. They'll have revenge on their mind today as they travel to Guilford to battle the team that eliminated them from the state tournament last season in a game decided by just one goal. Face-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The boys meanwhile notched their 11th straight win with a 20-2 blow-out of Farmington. Simsbury (12-3) visits Glastonbury at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
The following contests are on today's schedule, but with more rain in the forecast, all are weather permitting.
