Varsity Girls Soccer Team Goes All Out for 'Pink Out' Fundraiser

Event benefits Casting for Recovery.

The Simsbury High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team hosted its second annual Pink Out Wednesday evening.

During the game against Hall High School, all proceeds from tickets and a bake sale benefitted Casting for Recovery, an organization that provides fly fishing therapy to women recovering from breast cancer surgery. A total was not immediately available.

Faculty manager Ernie Goodwin said it's always great to see teams support such an effort.

"It's great that they're doing it for a cause," he said.

Parents, in turn, were grateful for the school's support.

"It's fantastic that Simsbury High School and its Athletic Director, Dane Street, supports the teams that want to fundraise in October for breast cancer related charities," said parent Angela Shugdinis. "As parents, we are proud of the girls fundraising efforts and of their play on the pitch tonight. They played good, tough soccer against a Hall team which hasn't lost a game all season — and held them scoreless for 90 minutes."

The game went to overtime and ended in 0-0 tie.
