HSO Talcott Mountain Music Festival to Perform "Sinatra Under the Stars" July 12

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra will continue the Talcott Mountain Music Festival with Sinatra Under the Stars! on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at  the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows.  Led by Guest Conductor Jeffrey Steinberg, the HSO will be joined by Rob Zappulla and His Big Band for a program of Frank Sinatra’s biggest hits, including Come Fly With Me; You Make Me Feel So Young; I Get A Kick Out Of You; The Lady Is A Tramp; Fly Me To The Moon; I’ve Got You Under My Skin; The Way You Look Tonight; Summer Wind and more.

Rob Zapulla was the featured vocalist for the renowned Tommy Dorsey big band under the direction of the legendary Buddy Morrow.  Morrow, who performed with bandleader Tommy Dorsey, declared that “Zappulla’s talent, his rich baritone voice, his own style and interpretation of the Great American Songbook, and his prior experiences as a professional, dynamic entertainer, was a perfect match for this great Orchestra.”  The affiliation has taken this great singer on tour with the Orchestra around the globe and all the way to the 2005 President’s Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. He has headlined performances at the famous Birdland Jazz Club, Lincoln Center, and has been honored to often perform as guest vocalist with the United States Military Academy’s West Point Jazz Knights Big Band and Concert Band.

The 2013 Talcott Mountain Music Festival continues through July 26. On July 19, popular Boston Pops guest conductor James Orent will lead the HSO in the Movie Music of John Williams, including soundtrack music from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and more. The festival will end July 26 with The Rolling Stones Tribute: 50 Years of Satisfaction.
