Hartford Financial Services Volunteers at Simsbury's ABC House

Company gives employees paid time to help local non-profits.

Recently, the Hartford Financial Services Company sent 17 volunteers to work at the Simsbury ABC House as part of the company's commitment to volunteerism in the community.

The volunteers from the Hartford helped with maintenance of the 200-year-old  historic building in the center of Simsbury - painting inside and out, cleaning, and doing landscaping.

The Simsbury ABC Program provides housing, educational supports, enrichment programming and nurturing to academically talented minority male students from disadvantaged school districts. The program helps them succeed scholastically, socially and personally, and ultimately to attend colleges of their choice. For 40 years, the SimsburyABC program's graduates have gone on to complete four years of college, and often additional graduate work, and to assume positions of leadership and responsibility in the work world.
