Operation Simsbury Valentine is underway.

Deputy First Selectman John K. Hampton is calling on citizens to create homemade valentines for veterans.

With Valentine's Day less than a week away, Hampton is urging schoolchildren and adults to make sure Connecticut 's veterans receive plenty of handmade valentines by February 14.

Operation Simsbury Valentine collects cards and letters for veterans living at the Connecticut Veterans' Home in Rocky Hill.

"I hope that everyone in Simsbury can find time to make valentines so that our veterans know that they are in our hearts on Valentine's Day and every day," said Hampton.

Valentine cards and letters may be sent to Operation Simsbury Valentine, c/o  P.O. Box 556 , Simsbury , CT 06070. They may also be left at the office at town hall.

To ensure timely delivery, please have all valentines dropped off or mailed by February 11. For more information, contact Selectman Hampton at 860-803-4072 or at JHampton@simsbury-ct.gov.
