MAGIC AND ALLURE OF THE CELTIC HARP: HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION

Marcie Swift will enchant and relax us with her Celtic harps.  The program features a wide range of beautiful music on the harp as well as Swift’s improvisations, storytelling, and the history of the mystical instrument.  She will be bringing several of her Celtic harps, including her Reverie harp, which each member of the audience may play to experience “the wonderful healing vibrations.” Marcie Swift is a proponent of the healing power of harps. It is especially powerful for people when they are in need and 'beyond words'. She is a certified music practitioner, psychologist, and researcher who uses the ancient instrument in her therapeutic work.  “The timeless magic, power, and allure of the harp” are an integral part of her approach to helping clients deal with pain, stress, depression, and illness.  Swift is the Director of The Swift Center for Learning.  She provides therapeutic harp music for chemo patients, runs support groups for cancer patients, and uses harp therapy and relaxation therapy at several hospitals. She works weekly at the Caleb Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center at Duncaster in Bloomfield using her harp and meditations therapeutically for dementia, hospice and illness, supporting both residents and their family and staff.  The program is free; registration is requested. For more information, visit Marcie's website: www.marcieswift.com. Marcie's CD 'Thread of Life' can be purchased at this event. Registration is requested at 860-658-7663 or www.simsburylibrary.info. Free and open to all.
